3d bookforms Since late 2019 I have continued to explore the 3d bookforms I could make with the laser cutter. I have been working with non woven materials such as paper and lutradur, and with polyester heat laminating film. The main emphasis has been on colour. Different colouring methods are needed for synthetic non woven substrates than for paper. Blue Gem, is a new paper made from a mix of cellulose and polyester fibres. The colour is transfer printed using heat and pressure. |

Batik Notes: Dye Colour to Digital ColourA collection of notes spanning 4 decades during which Pat worked with dye, wax resist and paper. These notes go beyond technique to explore line, pattern and colour, then ask how to suggest space on cloth using liquid dye? How does the transparency and liquidity of dye affect our reading of space. What are the textural possibilities of combining different colorants and materials? The spatial characteristics of layered dye colour are explored through a series of artworks where the process is deconstructed and recorded as a visual sequence. These notes follow her experiments with liquid dye and visual sequence into new directions using digital image, to make new 'resist prints' - artworks where dye colour, inkjet print, resist interact with paper collage.
